  • Examples of key regulations include:
    • United States
      • EPA Hazardous Organic NESHAP (HON rule) – Effective April 9, 2024, the updated HON rule mandates stricter emissions standards for facilities handling HAPs, including benzene, 1,3-butadiene, ethylene dichloride, ethylene oxide, and vinyl chloride. Requires fenceline monitoring and root cause analysis at affected chemical plants. 
      • EPA NESHAP for EtO Commercial Sterilizers – Requires continuous emissions monitoring (CEMS) for ethylene oxide at nearly 90 sterilization facilities nationwide. 
      • South Coast AQMD Rule 1405 – Requires CEMS and fenceline monitoring of ethylene oxide emissions from sterilization facilities and related operations.
